BART AERNOUTS TAKES 4TH PLACE IN SEASON OPENER IN CHALLENGE GRAN CANARIA

Bart Aernouts finished 4th in Challenge Gran Canaria, his first race of the season. Charging his way through the field after the swim, the Belgian crossed the line in 4:02:32, just missing out on a podium spot. Pablo Gonzalez (SPA; 4:00:25) won the race, Andi Böcherer (GER; 4:00:42) came home in 2nd as Ironman World Champion Patrik Lange (GER; 4:01:17) completed the podium. Unfortunately for Patrik Nilsson, it wasn't his day and he had to withdraw from the race after the 2nd loop of the bike.

Dominating victory for Romain Guillaume at Ironman Malaysia

Romain Guillaume took the victory at IM Malaysia after a dominating performance. The BMC-Etixx athlete broke away at the start of the bike to finish the race in 8:32:54, breaking both the overall course and the bike record. Jens Petersen-Bach (DEN; 8:36:44) and Roman Deisenhofer (GER; 8:40:45) crossed the line in 2nd and 3rd.

Patrik Nilsson takes an outstanding 8th place finish at the Ironman World Championship in his debut year

Patrik Nilsson claims a fantastic 8th place finish at the Ironman World Championship in Kona. In his debut year, he finished the race in 8:18:21. His BMC-Etixx teammate Bart Aernouts crossed the line in 8:26:28 to secure 12th place after setting the 6th fastest run split of the day. Ronnie Schildknecht fought his way to 30th position in a time of 8:50:30.
